#VaiGrandeRio

A movement around the hashtag #VaiGrandeRio that brought user generated content to the Sambadrome, during Rio de Janeiro's Carnival parade.

My roles: Content Editor, Community Manger

Date: Fall 2013

The Brazilian startup Carnaval.Vc joined forces with the samba school Grande Rio to create the most connected carnival experience of 2014’s Rio de Janeiro festivities. Using the #VaiGrandeRio hashtag, people collaborated with two interactive floats that displayed crowdsourced videos and pictures.

To promote participation, more than 80 celebrities from TV and the internet posted videos on their personal social media channels creating the call to action. Acting as a community strategist and content producer, I supervised the creation of the content using the videos with the celebrities and other crowdsourcing strategies. All the content generated was aggregated in a website where I also helped with quality assurance and defining the rules of moderation.

The final numbers included more than 146 million impressions of the hashtag #VaiGrandeRio from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram together, reaching more than 21 million users.
